John J.'s Story
John J. Lyons, 56, of Gardiner, Maine, died on October 30, 2016, after a year long battle with cancer. John was the son of Frances Lyons of Hampton, N.H., and the late William Lyons of Newburyport.
John graduated from Newburyport High School. He was employed by Advanced Utilities Construction Company as a Fios installer.
His pride and joy was his home on Pleasant Pond. He worked the land to create a Maine paradise complete with terraced gardens overlooking the water. His greatest pleasure was sitting by the campfire with family and friends and his dog, Rocco, watching the sunset and listening to the cry of the loon.
He is survived by his mother, Frances (Schruender) Lyons; brother and sister-in-law, Brett and Diane Lyons of Haverhill; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father, William Lyons; brothers, Michael and Patrick Lyons; and his longtime companion, Susan Bradley.
Family and friends are invited to attend John’s Funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, November 4, 2016, at Immaculate Conception Church, followed by burial at St. Mary’s Cemetery. The Twomey, LeBlanc, & Conte Funeral Home, 193 High St., Newburyport, MA 01950 is assisting Mr. Lyons’ family with his funeral arrangements.
