Janet (Lee) Gilchrist, just 25 days shy of her 90th birthday, passed peacefully at Avita at Newburyport with family by her side. She was the beloved wife of the late John S. Gilchrist, who passed in 1987.

She was an active member of the Merrimacport United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women, the West Newbury Garden Club, Merrimac Couplings, The Merriplayers, and cast member for the Merrimac Minstrel Shows.

From devoted wife to dedicated mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, her family was the most important part of her life. She especially enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who held a very special place in her heart.
