James C.'s Story
James C. Walker, 72, of North Hampton, formerly of Durham, Newton, and Stratham, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, August 11, 2016, after a long battle with cancer.
Jim was the son of the late George and Dorothy Walker of Durham. He attended Oyster River High School, and furthered his education by graduating from Nasson College in 1966, majoring in Biology. He fulfilled his military duty by serving in the Navy as a Medical Corpsman in Vietnam. He went on to have a 36 year career as clinical laboratory director at the Anna Jaques Hospital in Newburyport, Mass., before retiring in 2008.
Jim is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Arlene G. (Gazda) Walker; his son, Steven Walker of Washington, D.C.; and his daughter, Allison Walker Torres and her husband, Ted Torres of Orlando, Fla. In addition to his wife and children, Jim is survived by his sisters, Janice Church of Southeast Harbor, Maine, and Gail Sampson of Nashua.
A celebration of Jim’s life will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, August 17, 2016, at the United Church of Christ, 289 Atlantic Ave., North Hampton. Burial with military honors will be at 10 a.m. on Thursday, August 18, 2016, in the Center Cemetery, North Hampton. Family and friends are respectfully invited.
