Herbert "Herbie" E.'s Story
Herbert E. McDonald, passed away on June 2, 2017, after a brief illness. He was predeceased by his loving wife of 50 years, Joan P. (Currier) McDonald.
Herbie was born in Amesbury and remained as a lifelong resident.
He was a graduate of Amesbury High School and Northeastern University. He was also a U.S. Marine veteran.
Herbie was a longtime member of the Main Street Congregational Church acting as a trustee. He also was president of Amesbury Minor League Baseball for 20 years and was appointed to the Town of Amesbury's industrial commission for 10 years. Herbie was a longtime member of the Lafayette Club. He was also an AHS sports enthusiast and an avid fan of the New England Patriots and Boston Bruins.
Herbie will be dearly missed by his son, Bruce E. McDonald and his wife, Jeanne (Antille) McDonald. He took so much pride in his three grandsons, Cameron, Stephen, and Tyler McDonald. He will also be remembered fondly by many extended family members and dear friends.
A memorial service in celebration of a life well-lived will be held Saturday, June 10, 2017, at 2 p.m. at the Main Street Congregational Church, Main Street, Amesbury.
