Henry M.'s Story
Henry M. Short, Jr. passed away on September 30, 2016, at his home with his family at his side. He was born in Byfield, Mass., on May 1, 1931, son of the late Henry Short, Sr. and Alberta (Steele) Short.
Henry grew up in Byfield on the family farm where he developed a passion for landscaping. He worked many years at General Electric in Lynn, Mass., until his retirement. He was also an avid Red Sox fan.
He is survived by two sons, Thomas and Henry A. Short, both of California; a step-son, Thomas Welch of Portsmouth, N.H.; a step-daughter, Jody Welch and her husband, Jayce of Rochester, N.H.; one sister, Miriam D’Erricco of Florida; his half-brother, George Short of Byfield, Mass.; his half-sister, Arline Brooks Gagnon of Salisbury, Mass.; his special friend, Deb Hennessey; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by late siblings John and Robert Short, Hattie LaCroix, and Margaret Short.
Graveside services under the direction of the E.V. Jutras & Sons Funeral Home, Amesbury, MA will take place on Saturday, October 15, 2016, at 11 a.m. in the St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Route 110, Amesbury, MA.
