Henry C.'s Story

Henry C. Reslewic passed on January 1, 2017, after fighting a six-year battle with cancer. Henry was born in Newburyport, on August 25, 1930, to the late Stanislaw Reslewic and Josephine (Skrzyp) Reslewic. His parents immigrated to America as teenagers. Henry’s father was a veteran of World War I, fighting as an infantry man on the front lines in France. His father died in 1934, and his mother raised her four children.

Henry was predeceased by his brother, Joseph S. Reslewic, a World War II Air Force veteran stationed at Hickam Field, Hawaii, on December 7, 1941. Henry attended the Brown and Jackman Schools and was a 1948 graduate of Newburyport High School. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard and was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, stationed on the USS Coos Bay in the North Atlantic.

He graduated from Bentley College in 1956 and was employed by Simmons, Shannon, Donovan and Brady, Certified Public Accountants. In 1959 he opened his own accounting and tax practice, which he operated continuously until his passing. Henry was happiest at home. Together with his wife, Frances they bought and restored several homes in Newburyport. He was happiest when “playing in the yard” and took great pride in his flower gardens and landscaping.

He is survived by the “love of my life,” Frances (Tarbox) Reslewic. Their 60th wedding anniversary was celebrated on October 13, 2016. He is also survived by their children, Thomas Henry Reslewic and wife, Julee Reslewic of Haverstraw, New York and Wimberly, Texas; Marianne Frances Rockwell of Bradenton, Fla.; Stephen Joseph Reslewic and wife, Suzanne Cashman of Salisbury; and Susan Amy (Reslewic) Keatley and husband, Eric Keatley of New York City, N.Y.; eight grandchildren, William Rockwell and wife, Kelsy of Parrish, Fla.; Benjamin Rockwell of Bradenton, Fla.; Kelley Reslewic of Dallas, Texas; Andrew Reslewic of Haverstraw, N.Y.; Stephen Reslewic and Michael Reslewic of Salisbury; and June Keatley and Robert Keatley of New York City, N.Y. Henry is also survived by his siblings, brother, Matthew Reslewic and wife, Marie of Amesbury; and sister, Charlotte (Reslewic) Stanton of Newburyport; along with many nieces and nephews.

Henry was a life member of the Knights of Columbus, Newburyport and a life member of the Disabled American Veterans, Eugene A. Twomey Chapter 40 of Newburyport, where he served as adjutant treasurer. Henry was also a member of the Newburyport High School Alumni Association.
Visiting hours at the Elliott, Woodworth & Rogers Family Funeral Home, 35 Green Street, Newburyport will be Friday, January 13, 2017, from 4 to 7 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, January 14, 2017, at 10:30 a.m. at the Immaculate Conception Church, Newburyport, immediately followed by burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
