Frederick H.'s Story
Frederick H. Mitchell of East Bridgewater died at his home surrounded by his loving family on September 16, 2016, at the age of 85. Fred was born on September 18, 1930, in Newburyport, Mass.
He was the son of the late Gordon P. Mitchell and Catherine (Cronin) Mitchell. He was raised and educated in Newburyport, Mass., and lived the past 47 years in East Bridgewater.
Mr. Mitchell graduated from the New England College of Pharmacy (now Northeastern University in Boston) in 1958 and was a Registered Pharmacist with the Randolph Drug Company, Dunnington’s Pharmacy, and Brooks Pharmacy.
Fred was a member of the East Bridgewater Sportsman Club and was proud to be a U.S. Navy veteran.
Fred was a man who enjoyed his home and family life. He took his wife and children on many wonderful trips to New Hampshire, Maine and Vermont. He enjoyed refinishing furniture, loved reading, and had a particular interest in the early days of our country, particularly the Civil War.
He was the loving husband of Irene F. (Plouff) Mitchell of East Bridgewater, whom he married on September 20, 1952. They shared 64 years of love and marriage.
He was the father of Stephen H. Mitchell and his wife, Susan, of Mattapoisett, Mass., Diane M. Dupuis and her husband, Paul, of Stamford, Vt., and Pamela A. Yeaton and her husband, Mark, of Westford, Mass.; brother of Gordon P. Mitchell, Jr. of West Newbury, Mass., James Mitchell of Williamsburg, Va., Donald Mitchell and his wife, Nancy of West Newbury, Mass., Catherine Doyle and her husband, John of Seabrook Beach, N.H., Frances Munroe of Newburyport, Mass., and the late Raymond Mitchell; grandfather of Matthew P. Dupuis and his fiance’, Nicole Peluso of Port Jervis, N.Y., Nicole M. Dupuis and her fiancé, Ryan Senecal of Belchertown, Mass.; great-grandfather of Emma, Riley, and Matthew Dupuis, Jr. Fred is also survived by many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
Visiting hours will begin in the East Bridgewater Prophett-Chapman Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 35 Spring Street, East Bridgewater on Wednesday, September 21, at 9:15 a.m. and conclude with a Funeral Mass in St. John's Church at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Central Cemetery, East Bridgewater.
