Eunice (Estabrooks)'s Story
Eunice (Estabrooks) Daigle, age 86, lifelong resident of Newburyport, passed peacefully Friday afternoon, December 23, 2016, at Anna Jaques Hospital surrounded by her family. She was the beloved wife of 37 years of George J. Daigle, who passed on October 5, 1987.
She was born in Newburyport, March 11, 1930, one of three children of the late Raymond and Edith (Potts) Estabrooks and was a graduate of Newburyport High School.
Eunice was a member of the Golden Age Club, the Newburyport Senior Citizens Club, where she was the Conductress, and a longtime active member of the Old South Presbyterian Church, where she was a Sunday school teacher and a deacon.
She is survived by a son, George Daigle, Jr. and wife, Martha of Merrimac; two daughters, Diane Gadsby and husband, Wayne of Merrimac and Donna Hannan of Bradford, Mass.; nine grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; a brother-in-law, Algar Belanger and wife, Shirley of Seabrook, N.H., along with several generations of nieces and nephews and many dear friends. She was predeceased by a son-in-law, John Hannan; a granddaughter, Christine Gadsby; her only brother and his wife, Buddy and Pat Estabrooks; and her only sister and her husband, Mildred and Sam Sargent. The memories she has shared with them will remain the blessed treasures of their hearts.
Funeral services and burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Newburyport will be private for the family. Donations in her memory can be made to the charity of one's choice. Arrangements are by Elliott, Woodworth & Rogers Family Funeral Home, 35 Green Street, Newburyport.
