Eileen P.'s Story
Eileen P. Finnegan, 81, lifelong Bradford resident, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 9, at the Avita of Newburyport.
Eileen was born in Haverhill on December 11, 1934, loving daughter of the late Timothy and Nora (Lane) Finnegan of Ireland. She attended Haverhill schools and graduated from Haverhill High School. She worked for several years at Mitchell’s Department Store until beginning her career with Western Electric, retiring after 35 years.
Eileen enjoyed her retirement. She traveled extensively with her friends overseas, including Ireland, Italy and she especially enjoyed the Caribbean. She was a lifelong Parishioner of Sacred Hearts Parish, Bradford. Her activities included playing 45’s and other card games, spending time and going out to restaurants with her family and friends; was an avid bowler and played in several candlepin bowling leagues and she loved the beach. Most of all she enjoyed life and created many memories with those she loved.
Eileen’s family would like to thank the staff at Avita of Newburyport. Although her stay there was for a short time, the care and compassion that Eileen received in the final stage of her life will always be remembered. Thank you.
Her surviving family members include her loving sister, Kathleen (Kay) Bresnahan of Salisbury and several cousins, including some in Ireland.
Visiting hours will be held on Saturday morning, August 13, in the Driscoll Funeral Home, 309 So. Main Street, Bradford from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Catholic Funeral Rites will be offered graveside in St. Patrick Cemetery, North Broadway, Haverhill at 11 a.m. Contributions may be made in Eileen’s memory to Avita of Newburyport, 4 Wallace Bashaw Junior Way, Newburyport, MA 01950.
