Dorothy Janet (Atkinson)'s Story
Dorothy Janet (Atkinson) Kaminsky, the wife of the late Edmund B. Kaminsky, went to be with her Lord and Savoir on December 30, 2016, at the Country Center in Newburyport.
Dorothy was a longtime Amesbury resident. She was born to Richard and Jessie (Stull) Atkinson on July 19, 1922, in Forest City, Pennsylvania and was one of 13 children.
She is survived by three children, Janet and husband, John Coskery of Amesbury, Edmund and wife, Cathy of Rexford, N.Y., and Paul of Tampa, Florida; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, whom she adored. She leaves a sister, Barbara Bartholomy of State College, Pa.; a sister-in-law, Rita Atkinson of Newburyport; and many nieces and nephews.
Dorothy worked at the Pentagon in Washington, D.C., during the 1940s. It was during that time that she married her high school sweetheart, Ed Kaminsky. They had a long and happy marriage.
Dorothy was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a good friend to all who had the pleasure of knowing her and was always there to help those in need. She liked to bake and was famous for her pies and Christmas cookies. She was a devout Christian and member of the Exeter Presbyterian Church.
We would like to thank the staff at Country Center for their wonderful care of Dorothy.
