Donald William's Story
Donald “Don” Salge, 78, was called home to our Lord on Monday, February 13, 2017, after battling with cancer. Don was born on February 19, 1938, in Bristow, Iowa, to William and Minna Salge. There he attended Bristow High School and later served a four-year term in the United States Navy. Most of his life was spent in Newburport, Mass., where he worked for the past 40 years at SBK Associates/Port Plaza.
Don was preceded in death by his parents, William Louis Salge and Minna Christine Finke-Salge. He is survived by his two sons, Bill and David Salge; his daughter, Teri Jones; his grandson, Tyler Jones; his two granddaughters, Haylie Jones and Rachel Salge; his fiance’, Doreen Desmond; Doreen's children, son, Stephen Desmond and wife, Heather and their children, Bayne and Rayna; Doreen's daughter, Kimberly and her daughters, Tabitha and Serenity Teague; Donald's two sisters, Shirley Schroeder and Darlene Bohlen; as well as several nieces and nephews and other loving family members.
Calling hours will be held Monday, February 20, 2017, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the E.V. Jutras & Sons Jutras Funeral Home at 118 Friend Street, Amesbury, MA. A memorial tribute will follow at 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, his family requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701 in memory of Donald Salge.
