Donald V.'s Story
Donald V. Sauvan, 85, died Monday April 10, 2017 at his residence in Salisbury. He was born on December 11, 1931 to the late Grace L. (Carey) and Carl C. Sauvan, Sr. in Newburyport where he was raised and educated.
As soon as he was able, Donald enlisted in the U.S. Army and served our country proudly during the Korean War. Following his honorable discharge Donald worked for various companies in the area before his employment with Western Electric, retiring after a 25 year career.
Donald enjoyed golfing and bowling and was a member of the 400 Club, as well as a member of the AMVETS Post 147 in Haverhill. In his younger years he enjoyed playing softball and was a member of the Western Electric/Lucent softball league.
Donald is survived by his girlfriend, Barbara Corbin of Newmarket, N.H.; daughters, Gail Sauvan of Amesbury, and Vicky Rogers and her husband, Robert of Seabrook, grandchildren, Deanna Walters and her husband, William of Salisbury, Donna Rogers of Haverhill, Dana Sauvan of Utah, and Robert Rogers II of Seabrook; great-grandchildren Makayla, Ayden, Asher, Amya Rose, Lillian, Bryce, and Isael, brothers, John Sauvan and girlfriend, Aurelie Sauvan of Newburyport, and Eugene Sauvan and his wife, Nina of New Hampshire.
Family and friends may call on Monday, April 17, 2017 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Twomey, LeBlanc, & Conte Funeral Home 193 High St., Newburyport, MA 01950. Parking available behind the Funeral Home. His Funeral Service will be held in the Funeral Home immediately follow the calling hours. Burial will be private at a later date.
