David James's Story
David James Brush, 67, of Portsmouth, N.H., died July 2, 2017, at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, with his loving family by his side.
Born in Lambertville, N.J., October 4, 1949, he was the son of the late Robert and Sarah (Sullivan) Brush and was a graduate of Hunterdon High School in Lambertville.
He was a computer programmer, having worked for Verizon until his retirement.
He once belonged to the Kiwanis Club, liked to take his children fishing when they were young, and loved a good classic movie. Above all else, he was a devoted father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He truly loved his family and was their greatest advocate, never missing an opportunity to care for them or let them know how important they were in his life.
He is survived by his son, David Brush and wife, Karin of Palm Beach Garden, Fla.; his daughter, Colleen B. Quinn and husband, Mark of Newburyport, Mass.; his three grandchildren, who filled his life with so much joy and happiness, Sean Brush, Katherine Quinn, and Matthew Quinn; his two brothers, Marc Brush and wife, Toni of New Jersey, and Francis Brush of Keene, N.H.; along with several nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends.
Visiting hours at the Elliott, Woodworth & Rogers Family Funeral Home, 35 Green St., Newburyport will be Thursday, July 6, 2017, from 5 to 8 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held Friday, July 7, 2017, at 10:30 a.m. at the Immaculate Conception Church, 42 Green St., Newburyport. Interment will be private for the family. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory can be made to the American Heart Association, Post Office Box 417005, Boston, MA 02241-7005.
