Dale V.'s Story

Dale V. Deveau, Jr., 55, passed away on May 5, 2017, at the Anna Jaques Hospital in Newburyport surrounded by his loving family. Born in Haverhill, he was the son of Dale V., Sr. and Antoinette M. (Walalis) Deveau. Raised and educated in Haverhill, he attended Whittier Tech High School. Dale was a talented mechanic and was a former owner of Don’s Garage in Haverhill. He was also employed at Approved Auto in Plaistow, N.H., and Early and Sons in Bradford, Mass. Dale enjoyed fishing, fresh and salt water, especially on the Annisquam River. He loved to shoot pool and play darts with friends. He also liked to cook and cherished time spent with his family. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him. His passing was unexpected after a long struggle with alcoholism, and he is at peace with the Lord.


In addition to his loving parents, Dale is survived by his son, Nicholas D. Deveau of Haverhill; his three sisters, Michelle Walsh and her husband, Michael of Newbury, Susan Alakel and her husband, Steven of Haverhill, Lisa Cronin and her husband, John of Newton, N.H.; his nieces and nephews, Ashley Deveau, Shane MacLeod, Thomas Walsh, Jack Cronin, Sophia Walsh and Ryan Walsh; and his companion, Kerri Evans of Salisbury, Mass.
Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend calling hours on Friday, May 12 from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Kevin B. Comeau Funeral Home, 486 Main Street, Haverhill. A funeral service will follow at 6 p.m. in the funeral home. Donations in his memory can be made to The Pelican Intervention Fund and/or The Pettengill House, 13 Lafayette Rd., Salisbury, MA 01952.
