Brian R.'s Story

Brian R. Flanagan died unexpectedly on Thursday, July 20, 2017. He was the son of the late John Flanagan II and Kathleen (Moynihan) Flanagan.
Brian Robert Flanagan was born and raised in Amesbury. He graduated from Amesbury High School in 1981. From there he went to Wentworth Inst. where he graduated in 1987 with a degree in Engineering. While at Wentworth he accepted an internship at Raytheon and continued to work there for over 25 years. When he was growing up he was very involved in Boy Scouts, achieving the highest-ranking status of Eagle Scout. He was always involved in Amesbury sports. He was a spectator, coach, and ultimately the President of Amesbury Little League. He was also active in the betterment of Amesbury by serving on various committees. Brian was a great father who was always there for his family. He was always there to bring his sons to anything they had going on. He was a great person who was there for anyone who was in need. He will be missed greatly by all. Memories of Brian will be cherished by many.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Ellen whom he was married to for 24 years, his two sons, Timothy John and Thomas James and siblings Maureen Donahue, Anne Bradley, Virginia Flanagan, Kathy Karambelas and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents and his brother, John J. Flanagan Jr.
Calling hours for Brian will be held this Monday, July 24 from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Holy Family Parish Church 2 School St. in Amesbury. His funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday Morning July 25 at 11 a.m. at Holy Family followed by burial in St. Joseph's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in his name to the American Heart Assoc., P.O. Box 417005, Boston, MA. 02241-7005 or to Amesbury Little League c/o Newburyport Bank. Arrangements are by the E.V. Jutras & Sons Funeral Home in Amesbury.
