Anita M.'s Story
Anita M. (Blanchard) Bourgeois, 77, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 17, 2016, at Portsmouth Regional Hospital in Portsmouth, N.H., surrounded by her loving family. Born in Amesbury, Mass., on August 8, 1939, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Irene Blanchard.
Anita was educated in Amesbury and graduated from Amesbury High School with the Class of 1957. She worked as a secretary at the Amesbury Elementary School for many years. Anita was a lifelong resident of Amesbury, enjoyed spending time with her family, walks at Hampton Beach, tending her flowers, and following all of the New England sports teams. She was an active member of Holy Family Parish and was a member of the St. Anne's Sodality.
She is survived by Roger Bourgeois, her loving husband and best friend of 58 years; her beloved daughters, Anne Marie Bourgeois, Susan Bourgeois of Amesbury, Annette Harnum and her husband, Gordon of Hampton, N.H., Teresa McManus and her husband, Steven of North Andover, Mass., and Lori Bourgeois. Anita also leaves her sister, Claire Bartlett of Amesbury; her grandchildren, Joshua Bourgeois, Ashley Harnum, Joseph McManus, Katherine McManus; and many nieces and nephews.
Calling hours for Anita will be held on Monday, August 22, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the E.V. Jutras & Sons Funeral Home, 118 Friend St., Amesbury, MA. Her funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, August 23, at 10 a.m. in the Holy Family Parish Church, 2 School St., Amesbury, followed by burial in St. Joseph's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in her name to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.
