Walter Hans's Story
Walter Hans Naujoks, eight days shy of his 89th birthday, passed peacefully, early Wednesday morning, November 8, 2017, at Merrimack Valley Health Center in Amesbury. He was the devoted husband of 50 years of Judith (Thompson) Naujoks, who passed on May 15, 2009.
Born in the Queens section of New York City on November 16,1928, he was the son of Hans and Anna A. (Gebauer) Naujoks. He attended grammar school in Elmhurst New York, then went on to attend the School of Aviation Trades in Manhattan, before moving to Methuen in 1947 with his family. A proud veteran of the Korean War, he served with the United States Army until his honorable discharge on August 22, 1951, with the rank of Private. Walter worked at the Wood Mill in Lawrence, Mass., for some years, then went on to work at Western Electric, where he retired after 32 years.
He is survived by his son, Daryl W. Naujoks and his companion, Maria, of Kittery Point, Maine; his loving grandsons, Ryan and Jeremy Naujoks; his sister, Edna Charest of Methuen; along with several generations of nieces and nephews, extended family members and dear friends. In addition to his parents and his beloved wife, he was also predeceased by his infant son, Walter Naujoks, and his sister, Helga Pontbriand.
Services will be private for the family. He will be joyfully reunited with his beloved wife, Judith, and his canine companion and best friend, Chico. Donations in his memory to honor his love of animals, may be made to Nevins Animal Farm, MSPCA, 400 Broadway, Methuen, MA 01844. Arrangements are by Paul C. Rogers Family Funeral Home, 36 West Main Street, Merrimac.
