Thomas A.'s Story

Text size

Thomas A. Navarra, 16, of Newburyport, passed away at his home the night of February 12, 2017. Thomas was born on November 2, 2000, in Springfield, Mass. He moved with his family to Newburyport in 2003. In 2010 the family moved to West Newbury, where they lived for six more years before returning to Newburyport in July of 2016.
Thomas attended several schools in the area including Shore Country Day, Immaculate Conception School, Pentucket Middle School and Newburyport High.
Thomas had a passion for music including drums and guitar, he enjoyed snowboarding at Sunday River, long-boarding and the great outdoors. Two very special places in his heart were his beach house in Higgins Beach, Maine and his grandparents’ house in Cannes, where he spent many wonderful summers.
Thomas was a gentleman above all, a kind and gentle soul who always put others ahead of himself and tried to help everyone around him. He had a keen sense of humor and was loved dearly by his family and friends. The world has lost a very warm, soft, and carrying light that illuminated the lives of so many. He will be missed.
He is survived by his parents, Rachel and Dr. Guy Navarra; his loving twin brother and sister, Will and Kate; his grandparents, Jane Nicholas, Renee Navarra and Dr. Soulayman Najmeh; as well as extended family and friends.
Family and friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, February 16, 2017, at the Twomey, LeBlanc & Conte Funeral Home, 193 High St., Newburyport, MA 01950. Parking available behind the funeral home. Friends are invited to join the family for Thomas’ Funeral Mass at 12:30 p.m. on Friday, February 17, 2017, at Immaculate Conception Church in Newburyport. Burial will be at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be made in Thomas’ name to the Brain & Behavior Research Foundation, 90 Park Avenue, 16th Floor, New York, NY 10016 or at bbrfoundation.org.
