Stella S. (Komanek) Chase

November 05, 1923 - February 08, 2019

Stella S. (Komanek) Chase Amesbury, MA - Stella S. (Komanek) Chase, age 95, lifelong resident of Amesbury, passed at her home in the comforting presence of her family on Friday, February 8, 2019. She was the devoted wife of the late Elliot N. Chase, who died June 16, 1992.

One of three daughters of the late Stanley H. and Agata (Tomasiak) Komanek, Stella was born in Amesbury on November 5, 1923, and was a graduate of Amesbury High School, class of 1941. For many years Stella worked in the Amesbury Middle School cafeteria.

A dedicated wife and mother, her family was the focal point of her life, and she was always there to take care of all their needs. She was also very active within her community, especially with the Main Street Congregational Church where she had been a longtime member and served on numerous committees. Stella was also involved with the Girl Scouts, the PTA, and was a former Grand Noble of the Rebekah Lodge.

She leaves an enormous void in the hearts of those whose lives she touched so profoundly—her daughter, Paula A. Solari and husband James of Newburyport; son, Stanley H. Chase and wife Cheryl M. of Amesbury; three granddaughters, Nicole E. Solari, Patricia M. (Solari) Bruff and husband George, and Kristina L. Chase; great-granddaughter, Sophia Bruff; nieces and nephews, who were very special to her, Wendie Plourde, William Warren, Carol Warren, and John Warren; along with extended family and many dear friends. Stella was predeceased her two sisters, Helen F. Komanek, who died December 10, 2014, and Wanda J. Warren, who died July 7, 2003. The memories of her life will continue to be the prized possessions of those who knew and loved her.

The family extends their most heartfelt appreciation to Brookhaven Hospice as well as the Visiting Angels for the compassionate care they provided Stella during her final days.

By her request, a private burial will take place at Union Cemetery, Amesbury, where she will be reunited with her dear husband, Elliot. In lieu of flowers and in honor of her memory, kindly consider a donation to the Main Street Congregational Church, 145 Main Street, Amesbury, MA 01913. Arrangements are by Paul C. Rogers Family Funeral Home, 2 Hillside Avenue, Amesbury.
