Rodney Daniel's Story
Rodney D. Cyr passed away unexpectedly on March 26, 2017, at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital, Boston, Massahcusetts surrounded by his loving family.
Rodney was born on June 20, 1942, to Augustus E. Cyr and Harriet Coller Cyr. He grew up in Salem and resided in Salisbury for many years.
Rodney proudly served in the United States Army from 1959 to 1963, with an honorable discharge. Rodney was the owner of RD Cyr Associates and previously worked for Conlon Products of Lawrence, Mass.
Rodney served for many years as a liquor commissioner in Salisbury and was a member of the Mason’s and the American Legion. He spent many years as a coach and referee for Bordertown Youth Hockey.
He attended the Cardinal Cushing Academy in West Newbury and Salem High School and studied at Northeastern University in Boston.
After retirement, Rodney’s true love was spending time with his family on holidays and special occasions and making his Saturday rounds to visit all of his children and grandchildren.
He greatly enjoyed working with his daughter, Patricia (Patti) as a greeter at Taylor’s Barber Shop in Salisbury and working with his daughter, Marianne as a manager of Beach Bum Trading Co., Salisbury Beach.
Rodney had a passion for stamp and coin collecting, which started many years ago as a young adult. He enjoyed golf and participating in many fundraising tournaments. The gift of a lemon donut or peanut butter cups would be sure to make him smile with delight.
He leaves behind his wife, Sharon Cyr; and his children, Laurie Bradbury and husband, Arthur, Patricia Pattow and husband, Jeff, Dwayne Cyr and partner, Cathy James, Marianne Cyr and partner, Joe LeBlanc. He was his children’s first and always enduring hero.
He is also survived by his step-children, Scott and Brenda Seavey, Sean and Victoria Seavey, Mark and Sherri Albanese; grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Brian and Christie Tatro, Zackary Pattow, Myles Bradbury, wife, Rene and son, Maverick, Melanie and Nicholas Cyr; step-grandchildren, Jacob, Amy, Joseph, and Madeline Seavey, Abigail Rogers, Nicolas Rogers, and Brandon Albanese; and godchild, Colleen Carney.
Rodney is survived by his sister, Claudette Krisko. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Patricia Learned; brother, David P. Cyr; and sisters, Jacqueline O’Brien, Elaine Caron, Paulette Belanger, and Janice Marshall.
Rodney’s children cordially invite you to services held on Saturday, April 8, at 11 a.m. at Star of the Sea Church, Beach Road, Salisbury, MA, followed by a celebration of life at the Dolphin Bar & Grille, Salisbury Beach, next to Creative Touch Designs/Beach Bum Trading Co. Burial will be private for family.
