Newburyport, MA - Roberta Ann (Arseneau) Doughty, 62, formerly of Amesbury and more recently, Newburyport, passed away on January 6, 2019.

Roberta was born in Amesbury on December 14, 1956, to Dorothy (Lapre) and Robert Arseneau. She was the loving sister of Germain (Jerry) and James (Jim) Arseneau. She attended the Amesbury school system and earned a full scholarship to Simmons College where she was working towards a degree in physical therapy when she married Paul Doughty of Merrimac. During their marriage they created a successful business and raised their daughter, Brianna (Bri) Cook-Doughty.

Roberta was an avid quilter, seamstress, baker, and all around creative and generous person. She loved spending time in the kitchen or at her sewing machine as well as with her dog, Toby. She enjoyed going on random trips with her daughter and daughter-in-law and looked forward to the holiday season each year. She was the supporter of many charities that were very important to her including the ASPCA, Wounded Warrior Project, America's VetDogs, and the World Wildlife Fund. She had a passion for caring for others and sharing her creative and generous spirit with everyone she encountered.

She is survived by her daughter Brianna Cook-Doughty and her wife, Kristina; her mother, Dorothy (Lapre) Arseneau; brother Jerry; and brother Jim and his wife Pam and their sons, Justin and Kyle. She is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Robert Arseneau, and dear friend and cousin, Eileen (Fern) Doughty.

Viewing hours will be 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, January 9, at the E.V. Jutras & Sons Funeral Home, 118 Friend St., in Amesbury. A funeral Mass for Roberta will be held on Saturday, January 12, at 9 a.m., at Holy Family Parish, 2 School St., in Amesbury, followed by a burial at St Joseph's Cemetery in Amesbury.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to one of Roberta's favorite charities.
