Robert P.'s Story
Robert P. Lynch, 87, died Monday, April 10, 2017, at Atria Merrimack Place in Newburyport, Mass. He was born in Boston on April 24, 1929, to the late John J. and Caroline (Hogan) Lynch. Robert was raised in Medford and was a graduate of Boston College High School, Class of 1946, and the Georgetown University, Class of 1950. He later married Helen Scannell and the couple raised their four children in Danvers, Mass.
Robert held various jobs in sales before starting his own company, Hero Coatings, Inc., in 1968, which he owned and operated for 30 years before passing it on to his sons. The business was his passion, and he visited it daily until near the end of his life. He also especially loved spending time with family and friends at his camp on Great East Lake in Acton, Maine.
Robert is survived by his children, Stephen Lynch of Plum Island, Thomas Lynch and his wife, Anthea of Hong Kong, Judith Lynch Bellino and her husband, Mark of Deerfield, Mass., and David Lynch and his wife, Bethann of Newburyport; 12 grandchildren, Rebecca, Michael, Stephanie, William, Peter, Anna, Julie, Elena, Paul, Owen, Trudy and Haley; as well as two great-grandchildren, Mia and Sloane. Robert was predeceased by his wife, Helen in 2005.
Family and friends may call on Thursday, April 13, 2017, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Twomey, LeBlanc & Conte Funeral Home, 193 High St., Newburyport, MA 01950. Parking available behind the funeral home. A blessing will take place at 9 a.m. on Friday, April 14, 2017, at Immaculate Conception Church in Newburyport, followed by burial at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Danvers, Mass.
