Robert L.'s Story
Robert L. Heywood, 72, of Nashua, N.H., formerly of Newburyport, Mass., passed away peacefully Monday, September 11, 2017, at Lahey Clinic in Burlington, Mass., after a long battle of declining health.
He was born in Newburyport, Mass., and was the son of the late Bertis (Pop) E. Heywood Sr and Francina M. (Dow) Heywood.
Bob was a graduate of Newburyport High School. He worked many years for Owens Illinois until its closing. He moved to Nashua for a job opportunity, met the love of his life, and began a new chapter.
Bob was a jack-of-all-trades and enjoyed tinkering on cars, homes, and boats whether they belonged to him or others. He was known for his selfless nature; if he owned it and you needed or wanted it, then it was yours.
Bob is survived by his wife, Diane Heywood of 25 years; and daughters, LeeAnn (Heywood) Cahoon of Salisbury, Mass., and her husband, Francis, Lori (Heywood) Hand of Reading, Mass., and her husband, Sean, and Patricia (Tink) Heywood of Seabrook, N.H.; three grandchildren, Lindsay (Cahoon) Godzyk of Seabrook, N.H., and her husband, Brandon, and Julia and Nicholas Hand of Reading, Mass.; a sister, Sharon (Heywood) Janvrin of Newburyport, Mass.; a sister-in-law, Donna Heywood; as well as nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Bob was predeceased by his brother, Bertis (Terry) Heywood, Jr., and his parents, Bertis and Francina Heywood.
Calling hours will be held Monday, September 18, 2017, at Zis-Sweeney Funeral Home, 26 Kinsley Street, Nashua, NH, from 4 until 7 p.m. Private services to be held at a later date.
