Robert D.'s Story
Gone but will never be forgotten, Robert Dean Force, passed away on November 17, 2017, surrounded by his loving family after a two-year battle with cancer. He was the devoted husband of 35 years to Shirley Maloney Force. He was born in Yuma, Colo., on September 23, 1945, the oldest of four children to Ivan and Dorothy (Custer) Force.
In 1962, he joined the Navy. After moving to Amesbury in 1982, he was employed by Fraser Pontiac as a mechanic. In 1985, he became an owner and operator of a semi tractor and joined by his wife in 1990, they drove as a team throughout the U.S. and Canada. Upon retirement from driving, he joined his son, Marc, at Simmie's Garage in Salisbury.
He was a life member of the V.F.W. Post 2016 in Amesbury where he held the post of Sr. Vice Commander. He was an avid Nascar fan and enjoyed watching the New England Patriots and the Red Sox. He enjoyed working on cars with his son and grandson, watching his granddaughter with her horse, Captain, win many championships, and riding his Harley Davidson.
Besides his wife, Shirley, he is survived by his son, Marc Janvrin and his wife, Holly; his grandchildren, Joseph and Emily Janvrin, all of Salisbury; his mother, Dorothy Young; his sisters, Donna Anderson and Sharon Archey of Thomasville, Ga.; his brother, Edward Force and wife, Patricia of Barbourville, Ky.; along with aunts, uncles, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father, Ivan L. Force.
There will be no calling hours. Burial will be private. Donations may be made in his name to Our Neighbor's Table, 194 Main St., Amesbury, MA 01913. Arrangements are by the E.V. Jutras & Sons Funeral Home in Amesbury.
