Robert A. "Bob"'s Story
Robert A. “Bob” Murdock, 82, died January 11, 2017, at Merrimack Valley Hospice House surrounded by his family. He leaves his wife of 60 years, Patricia and his children, Jeff Murdock, and his wife, Debbie of Chicago; Patti Wendt, and her husband Michael of Merrimac; Robert Murdock of Hampton; and Ellen Kuchar, and her husband, Erick of Merrimac. He also leaves his 13 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; sisters, Mary Jean Stabile, and her husband Richard of Haverhill; and Kathleen Plouffe, and her husband Richard of Methuen; brother-in-law, Francis
Sullivan, and his wife, Dolores of Florida; and his sister-in-law Jane Heggarty of Methuen. In addition, he leaves many other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Born and raised in Lawrence, the son of Robert and Julia Murdock, he was a graduate of Central Catholic High School in Lawrence, Class of 1951. Following his graduation from high school, Bob served four years in the United States Navy. A graduate of Fitchburg State College, Bob worked as an industrial engineer at Raytheon for 40 years. During his 20 years of retirement, he enjoyed spending time with his family, volunteering at Bread and Roses, traveling and playing golf.
Family and friends may call from 2 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, January 15th at the Highland Street Chapel of Paul C. Rogers Family Funeral Home, 2 Hillside Avenue, Amesbury. A Funeral Mass will be held Monday, January 16th at 9:30 a.m. at the Church of the Nativity, 4 Green St, Merrimac. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Bread and Roses, 58 Newbury St., Lawrence, MA 01840.
