Raymond's Story

BRENTWOOD, NH - Raymond Henry Russell, 88, of Brentwood died Wednesday, December 27, 2017 at his home.
He was born March 28, 1929 in Newburyport, the son of the late Raymond Lawrence and Dorothy Woodwell (Hughes) Russell. He was the eldest of their eight children.
Ray was a graduate of Newburyport High School, Class of 1946, and Alabama State University with a bachelor's degree in Accounting.
He was a Captain and Drill Sargent in the U.S. Marine Corp, serving over 20 years during the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War. He had a long civilian career as a professional accountant in the Exeter, N.H. area. He was a very active member of St. Michael's Church, serving as a gospel reader, Eucharistic minister and parish treasurer for many years.
He was the beloved husband of the late Betty Lou (Kinard) Russell with whom he shared over 50 years of marriage. Family members include his daughter, Theresa Russell; his son, Michael Russell, Michael's wife Jennifer Russell and two grandchildren, Peyton E. Russell and Dylan J. Russell. He is survived also by his siblings and their spouses; his brother Paul Russell and his wife Claire; his sister, Ruth (Russell) O'Connor and her husband Frank; his sister, Mary (Russell) Maguire and her husband Dan; his brother, David Russell, and his wife Patricia; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his daughter, Eleanor Russell and brothers, Joseph P. Russell, John (Jack) Russell and Edward L. Russell.
Visiting hours will be on Monday, January 1, 2018 from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Stockbridge Funeral Home, 141 Epping Road, Exeter. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St. Michael's Catholic Church, corner of Front and Lincoln Streets, Exeter on Tuesday, January 2, 2018. Spring burial will be in Newburyport. Family flowers only. Donations may be made in Raymond's memory to the St. Michael's Catholic Church in Exeter NH.
