Paul F.'s Story

Text size

Paul F. Doyle, 81 of Newburyport, passed away in peace on the morning of Wednesday November 16, 2016 surrounded by his closest loved ones. He was husband to Beverly (Noyes) Doyle, who stole his heart at the age of 15.
Born in Newburyport on July 18, 1935, he was the son of Norman and Mary (Moynihan) Doyle and a graduate of the Newburyport High School, Class of ‘52.
Like his father before him, Paul was called “Bumpy” by his grandchildren and those who felt close to him as a sign of warmth. Paul spent many years handling different companies’ major purchasing needs and as a natural leader, he became president of a union at a young age. His acumen for leadership and politics showed up throughout his career and into retirement while he devoted personal time to being a Newburyport City Councilman, Amesbury Selectman, Chairman of the Triton Regional High School Committee, and Salisbury Liquor Commissioner. Paul and Beverly spent many wonderful Sundays at Todd’s Farm in Rowley, finding treasures for their home that Paul liked to call “the museum”. Paul loved nothing more than golfing with his sons Paul Jr., Garry, and his brother, John. A devoted New England Patriots fan, Paul often claimed that a direct phone line to Coach Belichick would've been a game changer when they needed it most. Paul was committed to honoring his late son Garry through a memorial golf tournament that raised funds for a scholarship for graduating Newburyport high school seniors at his son’s request. Paul helped make the tournament a resounding success for 15 straight years.
He leaves his wife, Beverly of Newburyport, his daughter Linda and son-in-law, Jay Larcome of Newburyport; his son, Paul Doyle Jr. of Newmarket, N.H.; his stepson, Joseph Lojko and his wife, Mayshell Lojko of the Philippines; his stepdaughter, Kathy Snow of West Palm Beach, Fla.; his stepson, Jonathan Walton of Newburyport; his grandchildren, Melissa DiClemente, Sarah Savage, Nathan Doyle, Erin Doyle, Lauren Doyle, Drew Doyle, and eight great-grandchildren and twenty-two nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his brother John and sister-in-law, Kay (Mitchell) Doyle of Seabrook, N.H. and brother, Greg Doyle of Brookline. He was predeceased by his son, Garry F. Doyle of Newburyport; brothers, Norman Doyle of Cleveland, Ohio, Robert Doyle of Newbury, and sister, Mary Glynn of Newburyport.
Family and friends may call on Monday, November 21, 2016 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Twomey-Leblanc & Conte Funeral Home, 193 High St., Newburyport. Parking is available behind the Funeral Home. A funeral Mass to celebrate Paul’s life will be held at the Immaculate Conception Church, 42 Green Street, Newburyport, on Tuesday, November 22, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. followed by a burial at St. Mary's Cemetery, 36 Storey Avenue Newburyport.
In Paul’s memory, donations may be made to the Garry F. Doyle Memorial Golf Tournament in care of the Institution for Savings, 93 State Street Newburyport, MA 01950.
