Patrick H.'s Story

Text size

A funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, June 3 for Patrick Henry Garten, who passed away unexpectedly March 20 due to complications from heart surgery. The Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. at St. Rose of Lima Church, Topsfield. Friends and family are welcome.
Patrick was born on April 16 to Henry and Patricia Garten. He spent a wonderful childhood in Topsfield, graduating Masconomet High School in 1980 and attending the University of Massachusetts in Amherst. Known as the funny one among his friends, Patrick performed stand-up comedy early in his career and continued writing comedy throughout his life.

Patrick was a loving son, brother, uncle, and friend. He was the “fun uncle” to his beloved niece, Kaleigh and nephews Max, Connor, and Cameron. He leaves behind his brothers, Paul (Kelly), Peter, and David (Paul), sister Mimi, his paternal aunts “The Garten Girls,” and many cousins who will cherish memories of summers on Cape Cod.
To honor Patrick’s life, please become an organ donor because Pat was about to undergo a heart transplant. You can also donate to Kev’s Foundation (www.kevsfoundation.com), a 501( c)(3) organization focused on saving the lives on young athletes with un-diagnosed heart conditions.
