Nina (Nichypor)'s Story
Nina (Nichypor) Hilton, age 88, of Newburyport, longtime Newbury resident, died Thursday afternoon, November 10, 2016, at Anna Jaques Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. She was the devoted wife of the late Charles E. Hilton, who died October 8, 2007.
One of three daughters of the late Mike and Stella (Barowska) Nichypor, she was born in Newburyport on August 4, 1928, and was a graduate of Newburyport High School.
She met her husband, Charles, while she was working at Towle Silversmith’s in Newburyport.
They were married in 1955 and shared 52 years of marriage committed to each other and their family. Her fulfillment in life came from being a wife and mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and good friend to many.
Nina was a wonderful cook, she loved being in her kitchen. Preparing holiday meals for the entire family was one of her favorite things. She also very much enjoyed being the crossing guard at the Woodbridge School in Newbury for many years.
She leaves behind her six children, Jeanne Barney and husband, Ken of Byfield; Richard Hilton and wife, Joanne of Leominster; Steven Hilton and wife, Jan of Ohio; James Hilton and wife, Judy of Newburyport; Robert Hilton and wife, Sherry of Winchendon; and Peter Hilton and wife, Kerri of Plaistow, N.H.; along with her many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, generations of nieces and nephews, extended family members and dear friends. She was predeceased by her two sisters, Sophie Welch and Olga Fortier.
By her request, all services will be private for the family and there will be no visiting hours. Arrangements are by Elliott, Woodworth & Rogers Family Funeral Home, 35 Green Street, Newburyport.
