HAVERHILL - Nancy A. Whitehouse, 79, of Haverhill, formerly of Salisbury Beach, passed away Monday, March 12, 2018 at Anna Jacques Hospital, with her children by her side.
She was born in Lowell, February 22, 1939 a daughter of the late Frederick and Mary (Mendonsa) Wain.
Nancy was a longtime resident of Salisbury Beach where she raised her family and enjoyed walking the beach, camping and spending her time outdoors. She had a passion for all animals but especially cats. At the end of the tourist season she was always there to help the animals left behind making sure that all the stray cats were well fed.
Family members include her son, Gerald Whitehouse and his wife Judy of Plymouth, her daughter, Alice Jackman and her husband, David of Seabrook, NH, her daughter Barbara Hunt and her husband, Steven of Kingston, NH, ten grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband, Alonzo Whitehouse and by her son, Donald Whitehouse.
After cremation, private burial will be in the spring at Long Hill Cemetery, Salisbury. Donations in her memory can be made to the Merrimack River Feline Rescue, 63 Elm Street, Salisbury, MA 01952 mrfrs.org. Arrangements are by the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home-Crematory, Hampton, NH.
