Nancy Marie (Rowe)'s Story
Nancy Marie (Rowe) Bowman, age 73, lifelong Amesbury resident, passed peacefully at her home early Saturday morning, in the loving presence of her family.
Born in Amesbury on September 19, 1944, she was one of six children of the late Eldric and Irene (Therrien) Rowe and attended Sacred Heart Grammar School and Amesbury High School.
For some years Nancy had worked as a realtor and a motel manager, followed by more than 20 years providing foster care to the countless children who became part of her family. She gave them the love, care and nurturing guidance with which she raised her own six children, and gave them a sense of security, purpose, and above all else, love.
Nancy’s nature was to do things for others. Her enjoyment came giving to others and spreading her endless kindness. As an avid quilter, she created many one-of-a-kind quilts for her family and friends. They were her priceless treasurers from the heart.
She is survived by her devoted husband of almost 50 years, Charles J. Bowman of Amesbury; her children, Ronald Kirk, Robin Deveau, Charles J. Bowman, Jr., Joseph M. Bowman, Jennifer Merrill and Christine Hill; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; her sisters, Doris Bourges, Sandra Fortier and Susan Paolino; many nieces and nephews, extended family members, as well as her many foster children.
Visiting hours at the Highland Street Chapel of Paul C. Rogers Family Funeral Home, 2 Hillside Avenue, Amesbury, will be Wednesday, November 29, 2017, from 6 to 8 p.m. By her request, there will be no services and burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or to the Shriners’ Children’s Hospital, International Headquarters, 2900 Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, FL 33607.
