Nancy (Jackman) Hay, age 93, lifelong Newburyport resident, with ancestry dating back to the early settlers, died peacefully Tuesday evening at Brigham Manor Nursing Home in Newburyport.
Born on June 2, 1923, daughter of the late Wilfred Pope and Lois (Russell) Jackman, Nancy was a proud graduate of Newburyport High School, Class of 1942.
She was devoted to her family, and was an excellent mother, taking great joy in raising her two daughters and seeing them turn into wonderful young women and starting their own families. She had worked for some time at the Anna Jaques Hospital in Newburyport as a transport aide.

She leaves behind her two daughters, Susan J. Hay and Joanne Houghton and husband, Walter; her two grandchildren, Christopher Cunningham and Beth Houghton all of Newburyport, as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members and her very dear friend and companion, Beverly Jaques. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Robert J. Hay, who died in 1975.
By her request, there will be no visiting hours and burial in Oak Hill Cemetery, Newburyport will be private for the family. In honor of her love for cats, donations in her memory may be made to the Merrimack River Feline Rescue Society, 63 Elm Street, Salisbury, MA 01952. Arrangements are by Elliott, Woodworth & Rogers Family Funeral Home, 35 Green Street, Newburyport.
