Monroe W.'s Story
EXETER, NH - Monroe W. "Bill" Belanger, 69, longtime resident of Exeter, N.H., died Tuesday morning, February 27, 2018, at Exeter Hospital, with his family by his side. He was the husband of 46 years of Doris M. (Provencher) Belanger.
Born in Newburyport, on April 26, 1948, he was one of eight children of the late Monroe "Bill" Belanger and Betty L. (Fowler) Belanger and attended Newburyport High School.
Bill was a very proud veteran of the Vietnam War, serving with the United States Army from November 7, 1966 until his honorable discharge on November 6, 1969.
He retired from the shipping and receiving department at FoilMart in Newburyport.
Bill was a member of the Elks Lodge of Newburyport and the American Legion Post.
In addition to his beloved wife, Doris, he leaves behind a son, Monroe W. "Billy" Belanger and a daughter, Angel M. Fuller and husband Brian. He was lovingly known as "Papa" to his five grandchildren, Benjamin, Isaac, and Anthony Belanger and Jackson and Kaylin Fuller. He also is survived by his two brothers and a sister, Robert W. Belanger, David Belanger and Vanessa Belanger, along with countless nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends, all of whom loved him dearly. Bill was predeceased by a son, Matthew, and two brothers and two sisters, Roger and Paul Belanger and Carol Titcomb and Mary Belanger Nelson.
He had a heart of gold and would go out of his way to help anyone who needed help!
Visiting hours will be held Friday, March 2, 2018 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Elliott, Woodworth & Rogers Family Funeral Home, 35 Green Street, Newburyport. Springtime burial will be held at St. Josaeph Cemetery, Amesbury. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Disabled American Veterans, P.O.B. 14301, Cincinnati, OH 45250.
