Michael Joseph's Story
Michael Joseph Grasso, age 51, longtime Salisbury resident, passed peacefully on Friday evening, April 7, 2017, at his home in the supportive love of his family.
Born in Newburyport, November 29, 1965, he was the son of Gretchen E. (Cobb) Grasso of Salisbury and the late Ray R. Grasso.
After graduating from high school, Michael enrolled in several culinary courses and pursued a lifelong career as a chef in various restaurants. As an excellent cook, more specifically "chef," Michael was the go to guy for all family functions that involved cooking, from holiday gatherings to birthdays, anniversaries, weddings or just for the fun of it all.
In his younger years, Michael loved to go fishing and ride his dirt bike. He was also an excellent hockey player. His love of the "Grateful Dead" lasted throughout his life.
His true passion in life was his family. In addition to his devoted mother, he leaves behind his children, Anthony and Patrick Grasso, and Nicole French-Wollen; his only grandchild and the pride of his life, Anthony Grasso, Jr.; his aunts, Beverly Vaughn, Nancy Klauss and Stephanie Cobb, as well as his beloved friend, Judy Morrill; and many dear friends and colleagues. He will be fondly remembered by all who knew and loved him.
Visiting hours at Elliott, Woodworth & Rogers Family Funeral Home, 35 Green Street, Newburyport will be Friday, April 14, 2017, from 4 to 7 p.m., followed by a period of reflections by the family. Donations in his memory may be made to Care Dimensions, 75 Sylvan Street, Suite B-102, Danvers, MA 01923.
