Lorraine Chouinard, 81, of Merrimac, Mass., passed away peacefully on Thursday morning surrounded by her family at the Merrimack Valley Hospice House in Haverhill.
She was born in Epping, N.H. on November 12, 1935, to the late Fernand and Maria (LeBlanc) Chouinard. Before moving to Merrimac, Lorraine had been an Amesbury resident for 70 years. She retired after working for 39 years at Owens-Illinois in Newburyport, in quality control.
Lorraine was a selfless, generous, and gentle woman who always enjoyed helping others. She will be remembered not only for her unconditional love for her family and friends, but also for her fondness of animals. Over the years, she was a caring home to many dogs and cats.
She is survived by her sister, Jeannette Fredette and her husband, Bob of Merrimac, with whom she shared a special bond. She was predeceased by her brothers, Richard Chouinard, Victor Chouinard and his wife, Rachel, and Louis Chouinard, and her sister, Claire Chouinard.
Her memory will live on through her sister and brother-in-law as well as through the many generations of nieces and nephews she leaves behind. She will be greatly missed by her cats, Oliver and Bandit.
A funeral mass for Lorraine will be celebrated on Monday June 12 at 10:30 a.m. in the Holy Family Parish Church 2 School St. in Amesbury. Burial will follow in the St. Joseph's Cemetery.
