Lorna L.'s Story
Lorna L. Hiller, 79, former longtime resident of Newburyport, passed at Rockingham County Nursing Home in Brentwood, N.H., on Friday evening, September 1, 2017.
She was born in Amesbury on October 30, 1937, the only daughter of the late LeRoy M. and Ethel L. (Royal) Hiller and was a graduate of Newburyport High School.
For some years, she had worked at K-Mart in Newburyport as the women’s wear associate, after which she worked many years as the secretary at her brother’s business, B. W. Hiller Landscaping Company in Newburyport.
She was a lifelong animal lover, but her true passion was bird watching. She could identify every bird by sight as well as by their sound.
Lorna is survived by her nephew, Scott D. Hiller and wife, Kimberly of Fremont, N.H.; two nieces, Paige Dalton and Jennifer Hiller; and two grandnephews. She loved them like they were her own children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her two brothers, Bruce W. Hiller on December 22, 2008, and LeRoy M. Hiller, Jr. on February 27, 2009.
A private graveside service for the family will be held at Evergreen Cemetery in Newbury. In lieu of flowers, donations in honor of her lifelong love of animals may be made to the Merrimack River Feline Rescue Society, 63 Elm Street, Salisbury, MA 01952. Arrangements are by Elliott, Woodworth & Rogers Family Funeral Home, 35 Green Street, Newburyport.
