Linda (Watkins)'s Story
WEST NEWBURY, MA - Linda (Watkins) Waring, age 75, West Newbury resident for the past 50 years, died early Thursday morning, December 14, 2017, at her home. She was the beloved wife of 54 years to Kurt Waring.
Born in Boston, February 20, 1942, Linda was the daughter of the late Dr. Arthur L. Watkins and the late Gwendolyn (Mason) Watkins.
Linda graduated from Kents Hill School in Augusta, Maine, where she enjoyed participating in tennis, skiing and mountain climbing. She also attended the Beverly School of Nursing in Beverly, Mass.
Linda loved being a mother, caretaker, and friend, providing a loving home for her family. Her mothering nature was not just for her own children, but extended to all children.
She enjoyed volunteering in the Day Care Center at the Anna Jaques Hospital, where she proudly received her 500-hour Volunteer Certificate. Linda also loved volunteering in the cafeteria at Pentucket Jr. High School.
Linda took great comfort from attending regular bible study groups, and enjoyed the beauty of nature, from the amazing variety of flowers and the chirping of birds. Her lifetime passions included a love of Mt. Chocorua in New Hampshire where she spent summers as a child in her childhood home, and also shared this love with her family many summers as an adult. She additionally had wonderful memories and love of her many years and experiences as an avid camper with outdoor fun at Camp Waukeela in Eaton Center, N.H.
In addition to her husband, Kurt, Linda leaves behind her daughter, Christine Moore and husband, Randall of Westchester, N.Y.; seven grandchildren, who were her pride and joy, Rebecca Moore, Matthew Moore, Katherine Moore, Megan Waring, Kristin Waring, Timothy Waring, Tabitha Waring; two brothers, Dr. John Watkins and wife, Mary of Chocorua, N.H., Robert Watkins and wife, Sandra of Southwick, Mass.; two sisters, Cynthia Melendy, PhD of Maine, Nancy Ghirardini and husband, Wayne of Wolfeboro, N.H.; along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. She was predeceased by her two sons, Mark and Timothy Waring.
Services are private for the family. Arrangements are by Elliott, Woodworth & Rogers Family Funeral Home, 35 Green Street, Newburyport.
