Linda M.'s Story
Linda M. Brackett, age 68, of Haverhill, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, September 8.
Linda was born in Lynn, grew up in Georgetown, and lived in Haverhill for the last 30 years.
Linda attended Georgetown Schools graduating from Georgetown High School in 1966. She graduated from Lowell State College (now U. Mass Lowell) in 1970. She also attended Merrimack College and got her certification in Special Education. She received her Masters in Reading Education from Suffolk University in 1975. She served as President of the Pentucket Association of Teachers for several years.
Linda was a dedicated teacher at Pentucket Regional School System for 35 years. She taught in Merrimac at both the Dr. Sweetsir School ( formerly the Red Oak School) and the Helen Donahue School. Linda was awarded Master Teacher status in 1971 and served as both a team leader and a mentor teacher for several years. Linda was loved by her students and parents. She was nominated for the Disney's American Teacher Award, which honors outstanding teachers who inspire the joy of learning in America's public and private school students by a group of her parents.
Linda liked to travel and was an avid Boston sports fan. She loved music and enjoyed singing and playing the piano. After her retirement she spent summers at her cottage on Great Island in Harpswell, Maine.
She was the youngest child of the late Lawrence W, and Rosetta A. (Walden) Brackett. Linda was predeceased by her brother Fred D. Brackett. She is survived by her brother Lawrence W. Brackett and his wife Jackie of El Paso Texas, and her brother, Paul W. Brackett and his wife Deborah of Cape Coral, Fla., several nieces, nephews and cousins. Linda touched the lives of countless people over the years and will be greatly missed by many people.
Family and friends are kindly invited to attend her Funeral Service on Tuesday, September 19th at 11 a.m. in the Conte - Giamberardino Family Funeral Home, 14 Pleasant Street, Georgetown. Interment will follow in Harmony Cemetery, Georgetown. Calling hours will be held on Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. in the funeral home.
