Leone (Campbell)'s Story
Leone “Lee” (Campbell) Morphett, longtime Merrimac resident, just 13 days short of her 77th birthday, passed early Monday morning, December 26, 2016, at Anna Jaques Hospital in Newburyport with her beloved husband of 52 years, Rodger Morphett, by her side.
Born in Glen Cove, New York, January 8, 1940, she was one of three daughters of the late Joseph B. and Eleanor (Phillips) Campbell. After graduating from high school, Lee went on to receive a degree in accounting and worked as an accountant for the Internal Revenue Service until her retirement.
She and her husband were devoted to each and were each other's best friend. They did everything together, enjoying every moment to its fullest. Lee was an avid reader, sharing her passion for books and reading with her husband.
In addition to her husband, Rodger, Lee is survived by three nieces, Amy Stier, Jessica Stier and Valerie Stier; two nephews, Kevin Horton and wife, Mikenia and Ronald A. Stier of New Smyrna Beach, Fla.; a brother-in-law, John Stier of Long Island, New York; two cousins, John Hannah of Houston, Texas and James J. Phillips of Palm Coast, Fla.; along with extended family members and dear friends. She was predeceased by her two sisters, Patricia Horton and Nancy Stier.
A Funeral Mass will be held Friday, December 30, 2016, at 10:30 a.m. at the Church of the Nativity of the Immaculate Conception Collaborative, 4 Green Street, Merrimac, followed by interment in Locust Grove Cemetery, Merrimac. There will be no visiting hours. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory to honor her love of reading may be made to the Merrimac Public Library, 86 West Main Street, Merrimac, MA 01860. Arrangements are by Paul C. Rogers Family Funeral Home, 36 West Main Street, Merrimac.
