Leo J.'s Story
It is with profound sadness that we announce the death of Leo J. Daigle, at the age of 83. He was the loving husband of Elaine M. (Owens) Daigle who resides at Wingate Nursing Home in Haverhill.
Leo was born August 7, 1934 and became the husband of Elaine at the age of 40. He lovingly took on her 9 children; Audrey, Mark, Michael, Matthew, Arthur, Teresa, John, Edward and “his” little girl, Elizabeth Owens; along with these nine children came 13 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Leo also leaves behind a nephew, Michael Blanchette who is a resident of North Andover, and was predeceased by his parents, Wilfred and Albina Daigle and his sister, Elizabeth (Betty Daigle) Blanchette and her husband Lionel (Leo) Blanchette, both of Salisbury.
Leo was a kind and gentle man who loved to run marathons and was a Red Sox and Patriot’s fan. He worked for many years at Bailey’s Candy in Boston then as shipper/receiver for Market Basket in New Hampshire. He will surely be missed by all who knew him.
A special thank you goes out to the wonderful staff at Wingate Nursing Home, C-Wing, who genuinely loved him and took such great care of him while he was there. He found his second family there.
There will be no calling hours but the family will have a small Memorial Service on Sunday at 4 p.m. in Rowley Mass. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made either to the Activities Program, Wing C (Alzheimer’s unit) at the Wingate Nursing Home in Haverhill MA or to the Alzheimer’s Research Foundation.
Cremation Society of New Hampshire handled the arrangements.
