June A.'s Story
June A. Grover, 90, of Powow Villa Amesbury, Mass., passed away on January 9, at the home of her daughter, Gail Williams, surrounded by her loving family. She was the daughter of the late Arthur E. and Bertha M. Hughes.
June grew up in Woonsocket, R.I., where she worked for the telephone company after graduating from high school. She met her late husband, Daniel H. Grover through her best friend and coworker, Florence Grover. They married and built their first home in Franklin, Mass. In 1955 they moved to Amesbury, Mass., where June worked for Western Electric then went to work in the Amesbury Middle School cafeteria, where she worked until her retirement.
June was an inspiration to others as she volunteered at Our Neighbors Table, the food pantry, and selling daffodils for the Cancer Society.
June, also known as Meme, is survived by her son, Wayne J. Grover and his girlfriend, Lucy Wade; daughter, Gail M. Williams and her husband, Mark; and her daughter, Robin S. Harrison and her husband, Christian. Meme also had seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. She will be sadly missed by all.
There will be no calling hours. Arrangements are being handled by E.V. Jutras & Sons, 118 Friend St., Amesbury, MA. Funeral services will be held at St. James Episcopal Church, 120 Main St., Amesbury at 4:30 p.m. on Friday, January 13, 2017.
