Joyce (LaValley)'s Story
It is with heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Joyce Valli, 75, of Newburyport, on October 27, 2017, at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, surrounded by her children, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was the beloved wife of the late Robert Valli.
Joyce was born July 18, 1942, and raised in Newburyport. She was the oldest of four children and attended Catholic school at the Immaculate Conception Church. Never without a smile, she would make friends wherever she would go. She had four children of her own and became a doting mother, nurturing her babies from birth to assuring their happiness until her youngest reached age 40. She retired from Anna Jaques Hospital in 2008, after 23 years and continued on with her appreciation of the simple aspects of life. Walks along the boardwalk or Market Square, Yankee Homecoming and watching the Patriots were among her favorite activities. She was devoted to her family and friends, never putting herself before the thoughts and feelings of others. She will be always loved and forever missed.
Daughter of the late Clarence and Marion LaValley, Joyce is survived by her four grateful children, Kelli Goucher and husband Jeff of Newton, N.H., Kerri Evans of Salisbury, Tony Hawkes and wife, Jen of Salisbury and Joyce Filippone and husband, JR, of Seabrook, N.H.; brother, Clay LaValley and wife, Mable; sister, Sharon LaValley; along with 14 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, four nephews, and a lifetime of friends.
Calling hours will be held Friday, November 3, 2017, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Elliott, Woodworth and Rogers Family Funeral Home, 35 Green Street, Newburyport. A Memorial Mass will be held Saturday, November 4, 2017, at 10 a.m. at the Immaculate Conception Church, 42 Green Street, Newburyport. Burial will be private for the family.
