MERRIMAC, MA - John H. Williams III, age 64, longtime Merrimac resident, passed unexpectedly at Portsmouth Regional Hospital on Friday morning, January 26, 2018, surrounded by his family. He was the beloved husband of 40 years to Sheryl E. (Lawson) Williams.
Born in Stoneham, Mass., on December 30, 1953, John was the eldest of five children of the late John H. Williams Jr., and Shirley (Aims) Williams, was a graduate of Pentucket Regional High School, and attended Wentworth Institute of Technology. He was employed at the Boston Globe for 45 years, where, before retirement, he worked as an IT engineer. He was an avid history buff, and especially enjoyed his times in Maine, lakeside, and four-wheeling with his children.
In addition to his beloved wife, Sheryl, he is survived by his children, Elizabeth Williams, John H. Williams IV, and companion, Corinne Paone, and her two sons, Jacob and Ryan; David Williams, and Heather Ryan; two grandchildren, Chase and Hannah Carlisle; his brothers, Mark Williams, and Glenn Williams; his sister, Sheila Farkas, and husband, Tom; his uncle, Denis Williams, and wife, Robin; along with extended family members, and many dear friends.
Visiting hours at the Paul C. Rogers Family Funeral Home, 36 West Main Street, Merrimac, will be Tuesday, January 30, 2018, from 5 to 8 p.m. Funeral services at the funeral home will be Wednesday morning at 11 a.m., followed by burial in Riverside Cemetery, 159 Elm Street, North Reading, MA.
