John Edward Kelleher, Jr.

Events

Amesbury, MA - Jack, beloved husband of Lois (McRae) Kelleher of Amesbury, MA died, Tuesday, June 11, 2019, after a courageous battle with cancer.
He is survived by his sons, John Edward "Trip" Kelleher III who resides in Carmel IN, with his wife, Kristen and their two children, William and Elizabeth; and Glenn Colin who resides in NH, with his wife Karissa. Jack also leaves behind two brothers, William of Beverly and David of San Diego, CA, along with several nieces, nephews and cousins. Jack's extended family lives in many locations across the US, and so the memory of his laugh and jokes is scattered far and wide.
Jack was a proud veteran of the Vietnam War, having served with the United States Navy from October 7, 1965 until his honorable discharge on October 6, 1969.
Jack's legacy is his love of family. Those of us who love and remember him like to imagine him in heaven teaching his grandson John Edward Kelleher IV how to play his favorite tune on the bagpipes, while Jack's parents, John Edward Sr., and Eleanor Kelleher of Beverly and his sister, Susan watch and listen in awe.
Jack will be remembered by many pipers across New England. Jack mainly played with the AOH in Manchester, but will always be fondly remembered by the many pipers he taught to play.
Visiting hours at the Highland Chapel of Paul C. Rogers Family Funeral Home, 2 Hillside Avenue, Amesbury, will be Saturday, June 15, 2019 from 10 to 2 p.m. followed by a period of reflections by family and friends. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to Jack's grandson's memorial scholarship fund. Roberta and I Are so sorry to hear of John's passing. His humor and kind nature will be sorely missed.
One of our favorite memories of John was of his standing in front of Saint Mary's in kilts, his pipes at the ready to play at a funeral.
Our condolences to you and the entire family.
