Jeannette M.'s Story
Jeannette Marie (April, Eaton) McLaughlin, born in Amesbury, Mass., on March 16, 1934, passed away surrounded by her family in Bare Foot Bay, Fla., on August 27, 2017.
She was the daughter of Ludger and Imelda (Roy) April.
Jeannette attended Sacred Heart School and graduated from Amesbury High School in 1952.
She worked at CBS Hytron in Newburyport and Sylvania in Ipswich before starting her banking career at Northeast National Bank in Amesbury, retiring in 1992.
She married John L. Eaton of Newburyport, Mass., in 1953, raising her family in Amesbury, Mass.
She married Edmund McLaughlin of Amesbury, Mass., in Bare Foot Bay in 1992. She was very active in Bare Foot Bay and made many lifelong friends. After Edmunds passing she spent many happy years with Tom Hallowell, before his passing in 2013.
She leaves behind four children, Diana (Glenn) Smith of Merrimac, Mass., Donna (Gene) Burnham of Seabrook, N.H., John L. (Patricia) Eaton Jr. of Dover, N.H., and Mark (Maureen) Eaton of Salem, N.H.; seven grandchildren, Stephanie (Barry Shea) Burnham of Amesbury, Jessica Bickford of Merrimac, Gene (Beanie) (Lesli) Burnham Jr. of Amesbury, Jeremy (Amanda) Eaton of Berwick, Maine, Alex Eaton of Dover, N.H., and Eric and Savanna Eaton of Salem, N.H.; seven great-grandchildren, Caitlin Shea of Amesbury, Christopher and Alexa Haidaczuk of Merrimac, Mass., Millie Burnham of Amesbury and Skylar Davidson, Enzio and Natalie Eaton of Berwick, Maine.
She also leaves a sister-in-law, Dora April of Salisbury and a brother and sister-in-law, Theodore and Barbara Eaton of Londonderry, N.H.
She was predeceased by five brothers, Louie, Larry, Gus, Bobby and Lucien April; and three sisters, Marie Bergoli, Pauline DeLong and Rita Winters; and many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank her special friends, Joanie Anderson, Ginnie and Paul Sorenson, and Laurie Caplinger for all their help and support.
Graveside services will be held this Saturday, September 9, 2017, at St. Joseph's Cemetery, 12 Haverhill Rd., Amesbury, MA at 11:30 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations made be made to St. Jude's Hospital.
Arrangements are by the E.V. Jutras & Sons Funeral Home in Amesbury.
