Born in New Kensington, Pa., on Jan. 1, 1915, Mrs. Baughn was first-generation American whose parents had both emigrated from Calabria, Italy. Formerly of West Springfield, Va., she traveled the world as the wife of an Army officer living in Japan, Germany, France, and throughout the United States. Everywhere she lived she gave service to her country, community, and her church. She was a gracious hostess whose door was always open to those in need of a meal, coffee or comfort. Her love of beauty was evident in everything she created—her home, exquisite flower arrangements and her abundant and beautifully presented meals. Above all, her love of family was unmatched and she could always be counted on for help whenever there was a need.
A Rite of Christian Burial took place at Mount St. Peter’s Roman Catholic Church in New Kensington, Pa., on December 22, 2018, with interment at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Lower Burrell, Pa. Arrangements were provided by Twomey-LeBlanc and Conte, and Giunta-Bertucci Funeral Homes.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Atria Merrimack Place, the extraordinary caregivers from Magnolia Home Care, Hospice Services of Massachusetts, Tracy Ramos of First Choice Community Health Care, Father James Broderick and Father Timothy Harrison of Immaculate Conception Parish. A special thanks to Jessica, Josh and Callen Perkins who brought her such great joy.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 12, at 2 p.m. at Immaculate Conception Church, Green Street, Newburyport, MA. Reception to follow at St. Louis Hall in the Immaculate Conception Parish Center. Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to St. Vincent de Paul Society, c/o Immaculate Conception Parish.
