Janet (Johnson) Maker's Story
Janet (Johnson) Maker Jacobs, age 85, lifelong Haverhill resident, passed early Wednesday morning, March 29, 2017, at Stewart Holy Family Hospital in Methuen with her dedicated family at her side.
One of five children of the late Frederick and Doris (Young) Johnson, she was born in Haverhill on October 31, 1931, and was a graduate of Haverhill High School, Class of 1949.
For many years Janet worked as an office clerk at the John Hancock Life Insurance Company.
She enjoyed her years as a member of the Women’s Auxiliary of the Merrimac Fire Department.
Her survivors include her son, Scott Maker and longtime friend, Michael McLeieer of Kalamazoo, Michigan; step-daughter, Shirley MacRae and husband, Robert of Ipswich; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two sisters, Patricia Raymond and husband, Everett “Bud” of Haverhill and Marilyn Randall and husband, Melvin of Merrimac; two sisters-in-law, Barbara Johnson of Winter Springs, Fla., and Betty Webber of Connecticut; special friends, Barbara Grant and Nolan Terri and Hannah Shaw, along with several cousins and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a step-son, Robert Maker; a brother, Robert Johnson; and a sister, Judith Piemontese.
Memorial services will be held Monday, April 10, 2017, at 11:30 a.m. at the Pilgrim Congregational Church, 27 Church Street, Merrimac, MA. Burial at Main Street Cemetery, Rowley will be private for the family. Donations in her memory can be made to Nevins Farm/MSPCA, 400 Broadway, Methuen, MA 01844 or to the Merrimac Fire Department, 16 East Main Street, Merrimac, MA 01860. Arrangements are by Paul C. Rogers Family Funeral Home, 36 West Main Street, Merrimac.
