A story from Porter Road: Many of the girls in the neighborhood took Saturday dancing lessons at Miss Von Dohlen”s, across the street from me, and she also invited some boys to join one year. Three brave souls showed up for lessons: Gary O’Brien (teacher’s son), Bobby Cutting (grandparents lived next to me), and Jim Flannery. The yearly recital was held at Payson (?) Hall, on the second floor above stores in Cushing Square, Belmont. The three boys danced to a rousing rendition of “Turkey in the Straw”, and received some well deserved applause! Smiles all around! I know I am talking for all the Porter Road “alumni”: Thanks for the childhood, Jim Flannery.

My sincerest sympathy to Janet and family. My memories of Jim were he we a kind, caring and fun man. I'm sure he will be missed by all who knew him. Although we had lost touch for many years I remember him fondly . His dad made him my step brother and now he is together again with his Dad and mom and sisters . Rest in peace and prayers for your final journey 🙏🏻❤️
