Harry "Bob"'s Story

Harry R. “Bob” Knowles, Sr., 86, of Seabrook, slipped away peacefully, Thursday, March 23, 2017 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

He was born September 14, 1930, in Seabrook, a son of the late Asa H. and Alice Daisy (Brown) Knowles, Sr.

A lifelong resident of Seabrook, he attended the local schools and later started his career with the former USM Baily Corporation in Amesbury, Mass., as a machine operator and retired from the Seabrook division as a line chief with 42 years of service.

He was a member and former deacon of the Rand Memorial Church, a 50 year member of St. James Lodge #102 F. & A.M. of Hampton and the Seabrook Fireman’s Association.

Bob was active in town affairs serving as past chairman of the Recreation Commission as well as a member of the building committee when the Recreation Center was built. He was also involved with the building of the former BMX track and enjoyed being a Little League coach and being active with his family in youth sports. His family was most important to him.

Bob enjoyed, hunting, fishing, clamming and enjoyed watching his bird feeder, even naming his favorite birds that he became fond of. He loved mowing his lawn and enjoyed his camp in Effingham with 103 acres and his other camp in North Conway along the Saco River where he enjoyed watching the floaters go by.

He leaves his loving wife of 52 years, Lillian (Marshall) Knowles; five children, Harry Knowles, Jr., Mark Knowles, Jeff Knowles and his wife, Michele, Robin Callum and her husband, “B,” and Sherry Knowles; his two sisters, Addie Alfreda Dow and husband, Burton and Sarah Sielicki, all of Seabrook; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, brothers and sisters-in-law; many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, and his recently deceased son, Kevin Knowles fiancé, Darlene Delaney.

In addition to his parents and his son, Kevin, he was predeceased by his first wife, Ramona (Souther) Knowles in 1963 and his brother, Asa H. Knowles, Jr. in 2012.
Visiting hours will be from 3 to 6 p.m., Tuesday, March 28, 2017, at the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home-Crematory, 811 Lafayette Road, Hampton. A Masonic service will follow the visiting hours beginning at 6 p.m., followed by funeral services. Burial will be at 11 a.m., Wednesday, March 29, 2017, in the Wildwood Cemetery, Seabrook.
