Frank's Story

Text size

Frank George Amato, Jr., age 76, of Amesbury, died Thursday, December 14, 2017, at the Anna Jaques Hospital in Newburyport, surrounded by the love of his wife, son and daughter-in-law.
Frank was born in Worcester, on February 22, 1943, one of three children of the late Frank G. and Stephanie (Yakowicz) Amato and was a graduate of Worcester High School. Just months after graduation, Frank entered the United States Army on January 11, 1960, serving until his honorable discharge on December 20, 1962 with the rank of SP4 . He continued to serve his country with the United States Army Reserves for an additional 23 years, and was a member of the American Legion.
He retired from Anna Jaques Hospital in Newburyport, where he had worked in the Dietary Department for 30 years.
His years of hard work were simply a labor of love for his family - he always wanted the best for them. He shared his love of the outdoors with his wife and son, hiking many of the Mountain Ranges in New Hampshire - his favorite was Mt. Chocorua over looking beautiful Chocorua Lake. He had a witty sense of humor and loved to tell jokes. Laughter was always at the forefront of any gathering.
His strength of character, unrelenting determination, and above all else, his love of family, will not be diminished by his death, for it will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him!
Fond memories will be treasured by his wife of 48 years, Andrea F. (Pagani) Amato of Amesbury; his son, Donald J. Amato and wife Michelle of Haverhill; his sister, Mary Rose, along with his beloved generations of nieces and nephews, extended family members and the many close friends of Bill W. He was predeceased by his sister, Carol Pollack.
A period of visitation and Memorial Service is being scheduled for late Spring, 2018 and will be announced by Paul C. Rogers Family Funeral Home, 2 Hillside Avenue, Amesbury, once the services are finalized. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in his memory to the South Hampton Baptist Church, 10 Jewell Street, South Hampton, NH 03827, where he and his beloved wife have been longtime members.
